Walls and all...

Over the last few weeks, the contractors have been busy - very busy! Here's a glimpse of their handy work so far.

In the space of just a few days, they've pulled down the old out-house and almost finished stripping the interior back to it's original beauty.

Our vision for the new Durham Ox

The Durham Ox - External

Since our last update, we are extremely excited to finally reveal our plans for the New Year!

After a busy Christmas and New Year period, we have today closed our doors to the public and our team have already started work on an extensive refurbishment and improvement project.

Here’s a quick glimpse at our vision for the new Durham Ox for 2018.

The Durham Ox - Bar

Cosy new lounge and bar layout with eclectic fabrics and colours, rustic table tops and roaring open log fire.

The Durham Ox - Dining

By moving the bar, we’ve also made room for a more intimate dining experience, with a combination of raised private areas and more airy open plan seating, ideal for cosy late night dining or casual Sunday lunches.

The Durham Ox - Terrace

In addition to the construction an extension to the rear of the building, we’re also creating the perfect escape during the warm summer months with our new and improved terrace area, with relaxed snug seating and chunky round table benches.

That's all for now... we hope you're just as excited as we are! More updates will be posted as the work progresses, ready for our grand re-launch in Easter 2018.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (coming soon).

New Owners

Dear Customers,

On March 16th 2017, we formally parted ways with Old English Inns and are now under new ownership.  We thought we’d take this opportunity to explain to you what is going to happen next, and importantly, confess some home truths.

Under our previous owners we were moulded to fit into a particular mould, which caused us to drifting away from our local community. Due to lack of funding and support, the old girl fell into disrepair too.

To put it bluntly, it was not what the amazing local community and residents of Shrewley deserved. We are happy to say that’s all going to change!

Our new owners, Sharon and Adrian Harvey, want to put The Durham Ox back into the heart of Shrewley. No more corporate suits breathing down our neck's, just a fantastic, local, country pub.

Plans are already underway for a total refurbishment, with a new restaurant, bar and meeting room. Plus, exciting new plans for our front and rear gardens. More details about this will be revealed over the next few weeks.

Although you may spot some new faces, we’re happy to announce that the existing team is staying put and it's still business as usual. Open every day from 11am - 11pm.

We’re extremely excited about this new chapter for the Durham Ox and we look forward to bringing you along on that journey. We promise that we will always put you, our loyal customers and local community, first!
